The square was built in 1735 and for more than 200 years, the area was a focal point for trade between the Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland and Greenland (there is a mini museum about the history of the square that you can visit for free). "Broens Gadekøkken was opened in May 2018 at Den Grønlandske Handels Plads at the end of the Inderhavnsbroen, as a collaboration between the founders of Copenhagen Street Food – Papirøen and Reffen, together with some of the owners of restaurant Noma. Here you can get world-class street food from reputable Copenhagen restaurants and chefs, where quality, good ingredients and taste experiences are paramount. During the season, guest chefs from all over the world are invited to come up with their personal take on street food and on selected Fridays there is a Friday bar, where the street kitchen focuses on tasty drinks and a nice atmosphere. The food market's expression is inspired by the location on Den Grønlandske Handels Plads at the end of the Inderhavnsbroen, where traders and sailors from Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark arrived after long journeys at sea. With a location in the heart of Copenhagen Harbour, guests can enjoy the view of the water and a beautiful sunset. In the winter months, Broens Skøjtebane opens on the square. Copenhagen's best-located ice rink, which welcomes the whole family for winter fun on ice in the heart of the city."
"Haven't booked a table? Got picky eaters? Want to enjoy the nice weather? Then Broens Gadekøkken is probably the best place to go. A bunch of different stalls. Something for everyone. It is a bit touristy, but one of the few places local still enjoy. No need for cash - all the places take card."
