"Possibly the best pancakes I’ve ever tasted and it seems like most of New York agrees. Clinton Street Baking Co. are known for their legendary pancakes, as well as their first-class all-day breakfast fare, making it one of the cities hottest brunch spots. Since opening in 2001 the Lower East Side institution quickly became a cult favourite and has seen a line out the door ever since. Trust me the food is worth the wait, but you need to get there early to avoid the queues or make a visit when it’s quieter for a late-night breakfast. (If you do need to wait, I’d recommend heading next door to their bakery for a pre-coffee and bun). Founded by down to earth husband and wife team Chef Neil Kleinberg and Dede Lahman, they take pride in sourcing the highest quality and sustainable ingredients from local sources who they know and trust. When they opened, they set out to make the best muffins and scones in New York and offer an iconic spot for locals to get excited about and they certainly achieved it and more. Clinton Street Baking Co. offers an eclectic menu which takes inspiration from the American South, coastal New England and Jewish New York, with Spanish cooks who bring rich culinary traditions from Mexico and the Southwest. Nearly everything they serve is made daily on the premises, using classic and traditional techniques. If you can’t decide if you fancy savoury or sweet, I urge you to order both as the food here is too delicious to miss out on. On the savoury side you have to try their signature item, the buttermilk biscuit sandwich with house-made tomato jam, then on the sweet side their huge stack of extra fluffy blueberry or pecan pancakes, enhanced with their homemade warm maple butter are definitely a melt-in-your-mouth must. An authentic American style diner serving up an all-star cast of breakfast greats, which are truly worth the hype."
