"Get ready for people, traffic, scooters, noise, pollution, incredible food and friendly people all churned into the thrill of this Nepalese capital. Would only recommend 2 full days.
Taxi's are the best way to get around the city. There is a local transit system but it operates sporadically and since taxi's are so affordable, they're a much better option. Beware of the tourist tax! As of September 2023, 1000Rs is a good rate from the airport. Between Thamel and Lalitpur I was paying anywhere from 500Rs to 800Rs.
**Tipping: Nepal is a tip friendly country. For most things including meals (and treks) 5 - 10% is an acceptable tip.
