Our first Euro Summer as residents was anything but slow, quiet or refreshing. It was jam packed whirlwind with four huge life changes (marriage, honeymoon, transcontinental move & new job) in the span of three months. Of course we sprinkled the occasional al fresco Espresso Martini in where we could but we were missing long summer beach days with salty skin and sandy toes.
We stumbled upon this little gem of the Balearic Islands just like any other Zillenial would -- through a good ole Google Flight search from Amsterdam to anywhere in Europe and filtering to the cheapest, direct flight. I was surprised but so happy when Menorca popped up as a great deal only 2-hours away from Amsterdam!
Menorca is a part of the Balearic archipelago that lies off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. Its more popular neighbors Mallorca (also spelled Majorca) and Ibiza are notorious for their world-class nightlife, luxurious beach resorts and English holiday-go-ers. However, Menorca (also spelled Minorca) is known as the island where the Spanish go on holiday making it an authentic getaway of azure waters and tapas galore.
I truly don't know how the Spanish have managed to keep Menorca a secret. The laid-back, bohemian island offers a tranquil escape overflowing with options for cala dipping, platja lounging and sunset chasing.
Here's everything we did over three days on the west coast of Menorca. Everything in this guide has been tried and vetted by yours truly (unless stated otherwise)!
As always, I'm happy to help you plan a custom itinerary for your trip to Menorca! Just reach out to me directly (:
