What people say

Enrica Monzani
"Romanengo is the oldest confectionery shop in Italy. It was founded in 1780 as a drugstore but quickly became famous for its candies and sugar-related products. In particular, Romanengo was—and still is—renowned both in Italy and abroad for its special whole candied fruits that shine like gems. Their ancient candies and coated nuts are also remarkable. The recently restored shop is the original one, and stepping inside feels like traveling back in time, with its frescoes, stuccos, wood fornitures and gleaming jars filled with colorful candies. What to buy/taste: Candied fruit (I love chinotti—a local citrus—tangerines and apricots) Gocce di Rosolio candies Cannella confettata (coated cinnamon) Quaresimali—marzipan tarts traditional at Easter"
"You can’t miss Romanengo for it’s gorgeous facade. A local confectionery since 1780, they specialise in coloured handmade candies, including beautiful sugar coated flower petals. You may not find the usual brioche, but if you’d like just a few sweet bites to take with you this is a great spot! "
