What people say

"The church of San Salvatore in Ognissanti was founded in the mid-13th century by the Umiliati friars, a religious order that was dedicated to the processing and trade of wool, taking advantage of the flow of the Arno and Mugnone rivers that flowed here. During the 14th century, the church was enriched with works of art of extraordinary value, such as Giotto's Maestà (now in the Uffizi). Subsequently, the complex passed to the Friars Minor Observant and important renovation works were started. The interior, while retaining the Gothic architectural layout with a single nave and a raised transept, has a soberly Baroque decoration, as is the Baroque façade, built in 1637 based on a design by the architect Matteo Nigetti. Of notable interest is the detached fresco, painted by Botticelli in 1480, located on the right wall, representing Saint Augustine in his study, a work created in contrast to the Saint Jerome in his study by Ghirlandaio, located on the opposite wall. In this church is the tomb of Sandro Botticelli, the great painter."

"Renowned artist Sandro Botticelli is buried here. The gothic church has notable Renaissance art, including Botticelli’s works. The intimate atmosphere and historical significance make it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic cultural experience. "
