"A stunning Baroque church built in the 18th century, the Cathedral of San Nicolò is among Noto's most impressive landmarks.
Its towering façade is a prominent feature of the city's skyline and serves as a testament to the power and influence of the Catholic Church in Sicily.
Designed by architect Rosario Gagliardi, the façade has three tiers, with a massive relief of San Nicolò in the center. Additionally, it also boasts a wealth of intricate carvings and sculptures of the apostles and of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove.
The cathedral's interior is equally impressive, with a collection of priceless artwork, including frescoes by Giovanni Tuccari and an intricately carved wooden choir. The chapel of the Blessed Sacrament features a marvelous altarpiece by Gagini, one of the most celebrated sculptors of the Sicilian Baroque."
