What people say

"Prešernov trg is the central square in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is part of the old town's pedestrian zone and a major meeting point where festivals, concerts, sports, political events, and protests take place. The square is named after the Slovene national poet France Prešeren, whose statue stands in the middle of the square. The statue was created by Ivan Zajec and unveiled in 1905. Prešernov trg is surrounded by a number of important buildings, including the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, the Hauptmann House, and the Urbanc House. The square is also home to a number of cafes and restaurants. The square is a popular tourist destination and is a great place to people-watch and soak up the atmosphere of Ljubljana."
"Plaza France Prešeren (Prešeren Square) is Ljubljana's central square. The large square was created in funnel shape in the 17th century near the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation. The Triple Bridge, the Central Post Office, and Slovenia's first department store line it. The square got a different look--circular instead of funnel-shaped--in 1988. It's now car-free and a major spot for festivals, live music, and protests. You'll walk through it constantly during your stay in Ljubljana."
"Ljubljana is probably one of the few cities where the central square is not a monument to a local hero, but to a poet. France Prešeren (1800-1849), most famous for his sonnets and most of whose works were written in Slovene, was one of the greatest poets of the European Romantic era. The Prešeren Square is the beating heart of Ljubljana. Get a real feel for the pulse and vibe of the city in the Prešeren Square and its surroundings!"
