What people say

"The Botanical Garden was established in 1889, making it one of the oldest botanical gardens in Croatia. It was founded to support the scientific study of plants and to provide a space for both education and public enjoyment. The garden was created as part of the university’s efforts to enhance botanical research and education. The garden covers approximately 5 hectares (about 12 acres) and is meticulously designed to showcase a diverse range of plant species. Its layout includes several distinct sections: Arboretum: A collection of trees and shrubs from around the world, demonstrating the diversity of tree species and their ecological importance. Systematic Garden: Organized according to the classification of plants, this section provides a systematic overview of different plant families and species. Mediterranean and Alpine Gardens: Specialized areas that feature plants adapted to Mediterranean and alpine climates, respectively. These sections highlight the adaptability and resilience of plants in various environments. Greenhouses: The garden includes several greenhouses that house tropical and subtropical plants. These controlled environments allow visitors to experience plant species that thrive in warmer climates."
