The pleasure pavilions, ponds etc. other fixtures seen to-date were built during the 8-9 centuries AD which gives an idea for how long this has been used by various kings and their family members. In Sinhala language 'Ran Masu' stands for 'Gold Fish' which may have had exotic fish at the time. The world famous #stargate can be seen with encircled figures of fish as well. This Royal garden is a key example of Sri Lankan garden architecture."
