"Maduwanwela Disawe referred as the Dark Prince of Ceylon was the last heir of this magnificent bungalow/walawwa. The title was bestowed on him by Sir James William because of the influence he had over Colonial Administration. Dating back to King Wimaladarmasuriya II (1687-1707 AD) when it was First built by Maduwanwela Maha Mohottala and expanded by the generations over the years until the final expansion was done in 1905 by Maduwanwela Disawe. Consisted of 121 rooms and 21 court yards originally. Now there is only 43 rooms and 7 inner court yards. Lies between Kolonne , Embilipitiya and Suriyawewa. The floors which have been laid out in Mosaic style chipped tiles bought in over from Netherlands."
