What people say

"The Civic Archaeological Museum, one of the most prestigious in the city, is located in the fifteenth-century Palazzo Galvani and is right in the center, a few steps from Piazza Maggiore. Opened to the public in 1881, it is known above all for its Egyptian collection, the third in Italy and among the most important in Europe. Its Roman, Greek and Etruscan-Italic sections are also very rich, whose materials constitute the most important nucleus of the Museum and document the development of Felsina. The Museum is completed by a recently reorganized Plaster Cast Gallery, the Gallic section and one of the most important numismatic collections in the country. The most important finds in the museum are the five Reliefs from the tomb of Horemheb, general of the army at the time of the Pharaoh Akhenaten who, with Tutankhamun, reached the highest levels of military command, to finally become Pharaoh. Also worthy of mention is the statue of Nero, discovered in 1513. The sculpture was erected by the people of Bologna to pay homage to the Emperor who had financed the reconstruction of Bologna after the fire of 53 AD."
