What people say

"The International Museum and Library of Music, inaugurated in 2004, is located in the historic center of Bologna inside the prestigious Palazzo Sanguinetti and hosts a very varied exhibition itinerary. The splendidly frescoed rooms of the palace that also hosted Gioacchino Rossini house one of the most prestigious collections for the repertoire of printed music from the 16th to the 18th century, for its incunabula, precious manuscripts, opera librettos, as well as for the unique collection of autographs and letters, the result of a correspondence held by Padre Martini, spiritual father of the Museum, with eminent figures, scholars and musicians of the time. In addition to the rooms, the Museum hosts a faithful reconstruction of the workshop of the famous Bolognese violin maker Otello Bignami, donated by his heirs to the Museum of Music, an events room, multimedia stations, educational workshops, a temporary exhibition space and a bookshop. In room 3 you can also admire the Portrait of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart (1777). The famous composer went, at just 14 years old, to Bologna to meet one of the best teachers in Europe: Father Giambattista Martini. Mozart spent the summer of 1770 studying with his Bolognese teacher in preparation for the exam to enter the Accademia Filarmonica."
