"Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) was, until recently, the most subsidized theater in the Netherlands. In my opinion, this is clearly reflected in what it has to offer the audience. ITA appeals to a large and diverse audience with its programming, aiming to foster new insights and perspectives. It is serious, thought-provoking, and intellectually stimulating.
Tips:
- Every 1st Saturday of the month at 3pm, you can join the public tour for €10 per person.
- English subtitles are shown for performances on Thursday evenings.
- On the Wednesday before the premiere of a new performance, you can attend the public rehearsal between 4-5pm for €7.50 per person.
- Every 1st Monday of the month at 12pm, 100 tickets for one performance go on sale with a 50% discount during the Sirene sale.
- A free drink during the intermission is included with a ticket for performances with a break.
- Be mindful when choosing your seat in the horseshoe-shaped Grote Zaal, as the view of the stage is limited from the side balconies.
- Arriving early, during the break, or heading home at a leisurely pace? Take a look at the paintings in the corridors. These mostly depict actors in their roles on stage. The mosaic on the wall of the top floor illustrates the play Gijsbrecht van Aemstel, a piece that has been performed in Amsterdam for over 300 years. On the corridor leading to the Rabozaal, there is a model of the building.
- Become an ITA Fan, (Harts)Vriend, (Première) Mecenas, Compagnon or Particulier Producent. Membership offers various benefits, including discounts and events."
