Fansipan is a mountain situated near Sapa with its peak sitting at 3,143 meters above sea level. You can now take the cable car up to the top of the mountain but I wanted to go up there on foot and through my personal experience, I have compiled list of things you can expect from the hike and a little bit of my impression of Sapa.

What's it like hiking Fansipan, the roof of Indochina

The aroma of cinnamon and star anise brings back vivid memories of Vietnam, a country that left a lasting impression on my taste buds with its fragrant and intense flavors. The enticing scent of pho was a constant companion as I journeyed through diverse landscapes, hiking through lush rice terraces, weaving through motorbikes on my way to hidden bars — all within one month.
We're gonna start on the north of the Vietnam, do the North loop and slowly move to the south of Vietnam.

This 11-day itinerary covers travel across Northern Vietnam, including the following destinations: Hanoi (Old Quarter), SaPa, Ninh Binh, and a 3-day cruise through Halong Bay. Included in the itinerary is an interactive map with recommendations for hotels, restaurants, means of transportation, and sights to see. In addition, tips and tricks to help you out during your stay in Vietnam, including things we wish we had done or items that we wish we had brought along with us. This was by far our favorite trip that we have taken; Vietnam is an incredibly beautiful, safe, and affordable country rich in culture and with hard-working and resilient people. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking to learn more about Vietnam and the Northern Vietnamese people, eat delicious food, and see unforgettable natural sights.

11 days in Northern Vietnam in Early November

Fan Si Pan (Vietnamese: Phan Xi Păng) is the highest mountain in Vietnam and the entire Indochinese peninsula (comprising Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia), earning it the nickname "the Roof of Indochina"1. It stands at an elevation of 3,147.3 meters (10,326 feet). The mountain is located in the Hoang Lien Son range, southwest of Sa Pa town in Lào Cai province. Fan Si Pan is a popular destination for climbers and tourists, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The mountain can be reached by a strenuous hike or via a cable car system that provides easier access to the summit.

It is part of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and is often referred to as the "Roof of Indochina." The mountain is a popular destination for trekkers and offers challenging trails through lush forests and diverse flora. At the summit, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Fansipan can also be accessed by a cable car, providing a more accessible way to reach the top and enjoy the stunning scenery.

This is the highest mountain in Vietnam. If you are up for a challenge you can trek to the top or take a cable car to enjoy the views
