What people say

" The Griffith Observatory is one of the coolest places to visit in Los Angeles. You can view the Hollywood Sign from the Observatory. Entrance to the observatory is free. Inside you'll find exhibits and displays as well as a show in the planetarium that does have a fee of $3-$7. This is a cool place to be if you want to see the Hollywood Sign at sunset. On select nights the observatory hosts Star Parties where extra telescopes are brought out for the public to enjoy. If you want to park at the observatory it will cost around $15. You can find free parking near the Greek Theatre sometimes during the week but that is not a guarantee and would require an uphill walk to get to the observatory. You can also take the DASH Observatory Bus which is 50 cents each way per person. Uber and Lyft cannot take you directly to the Observatory. They would have to drop you at the bottom of the hill near the Greek Theatre. "
"We decided to visit the Griffith Observatory around noon after our visit to Warner Bros. During this time it was extremely busy and difficult to find parking. Cars were parked along the road for miles leading up to and leaving the observatory. It took us a few tries to find parking close to the observatory. Be sure to budget some extra time if you visit in the afternoon. The highlight of this visit was walking on the roof of the Observatory and taking in the views of downtown LA and the legendary Hollywood sign. As it was very crowded both inside and out we didn’t spend a lot of time exploring the exhibits inside the Observatory. I recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds and have the chance to enjoy the exhibits. Entrance to the observatory is free but there is a cost for parking."
"Didn’t realize Corita Art Center was right at the base of this hill, but the drives were worth it. We were able to snag the cliché Hollywood sign photos and pretend we were on the set of La La Land. We didn’t purchase tickets to the actual observatory (but did pay for $10 parking), just explored outside, and the dirt path was steep and slick. Still kicking myself that we didn’t stop by Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round where Walt Disney originally got the idea for Disneyland."
