What people say

"Ignore all the addresses you might search for the Hollywood sign—there is no street access to the sign, and parking in the neighborhoods is prohibited (they do ticket for this). To get a great photo of the Hollywood sign, head to Lake Hollywood Park. This spot offers the perfect view of the front of the sign. If you want to hike up to the back of the sign, you can park your car at the park and walk to the Innsdale Trailhead (6100 Innsdale Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068). You might also find parking closer to the trailhead since it’s on the same road as the park. From there, you'll see many people walking towards the sign. There will be a point where you exit onto a neighborhood street—just take a left and keep going until you see "The Last House on Mulholland" (you can Google this address) or signs indicating that this is not the way to the Hollywood sign. It is—just keep walking, following the path and the crowds. The path is mostly dirt, so keep that in mind when choosing your shoes."
"Take a hike through the hills to get as close as you can to the Hollywood sign. You'll get some amazing views over LA."
