"The Queen's Gallery in Bangkok was officially opened on August 9, 2003, following an initiative by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The gallery was established to provide a space for showcasing the work of Thai artists, particularly new and emerging artists whose works had not yet gained widespread recognition, as well as senior honored artists. The funds for the gallery were generously donated by the Queen, with additional support from Mr. Chatri Sophonpanich, the chairman of Bangkok Bank. The funds were gathered after the Queen presented an award in 2001 for the "Bualuang Master Painting," a project aimed at supporting the Foundation of Art and Craft. These contributions helped establish The Queen's Gallery Foundation.
The gallery occupies a renovated building that was originally the Bangkok Bank Phanfa Bridge branch and was once the bank's Musical Art Centre. The transformation into a modern art gallery was supported by the bank and is now home to four floors of exhibition space. The fifth floor is designated for activities and events that aim to promote Thai art and culture to the public. Exhibitions on a variety of themes, including BuaLuang paintings and temporary exhibitions, are displayed on different floors.
Outside the gallery, visitors can find a shop selling art-related souvenirs, such as T-shirts, books, programs, and gifts, as well as a café offering Italian-style coffee with a Thai twist. The gallery is located along Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue, providing a comfortable space for visitors to relax and enjoy the artistic atmosphere. It is open from Thursday to Tuesday, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm, with free admission for children under 12, senior citizens, and monks, while students with ID cards can enter for 50 baht."
