This remarkable Belgium guide is the accumulation of over 30 hours of researching and planning. Weekend in Brussels

Brussels and Leuven are like two sides of Belgium’s charm, each with its own vibe. Brussels, the lively capital, has everything from the jaw-dropping Grand Place to quirky spots like the Atomium. You can wander cobblestone streets, snack on waffles, and spot comic book murals around every corner. Just a quick train ride away, Leuven feels like a cozy little escape. It’s a student town with a cool energy, beautiful old buildings, and the super chill vibe of the Oude Markt, packed with cafes and bars. Whether you're into history, great food, or just soaking up the atmosphere, these two cities have you covered.

Manneken Pis

One interesting fact about Brussels is that it is home to one of the world's most famous statues, Manneken Pis. This small bronze statue of a boy urinating has become a symbol of the city's humor and spirit. Since its creation in the early 17th century, Manneken Pis has been dressed in over 1,000 different costumes, making it a unique and beloved landmark in Brussels.

Legend has it that this little guy saved Brussels from disaster when the enemy was ready to bring the city down with gunpowder. This little guy just happened to be around, desperately needing to relieve himself and in doing so extinguished the fuse. 

It's a super cute statue to visit and if you're lucky, you may find him dressed in one of his 1,000+ outfits. 

Just a short walk from the Grand Place, you'll find the famous Manneken Pis statue. It's a small bronze statue of a little boy peeing and is one of Brussels' iconic landmarks.
