Battery Park, located at the southern tip of Manhattan in New York City, is a picturesque waterfront park offering stunning views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. Named for the artillery batteries that once defended the city, Battery Park is now a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling streets of Lower Manhattan.
One of the highlights of Battery Park is its beautiful gardens and promenades, which provide a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Visitors can stroll along tree-lined pathways, relax on shady benches, or enjoy a picnic while taking in the scenic waterfront views.
Battery Park is also home to several historic monuments and landmarks, including the East Coast Memorial and the Battery Oval, which features sculptures and memorials commemorating the nation's military history. The park's expansive lawns and waterfront esplanades make it a popular destination for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
In addition to its natural beauty and historic significance, Battery Park serves as a gateway to several popular attractions, including the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Visitors can catch a ferry to these iconic landmarks from Battery Park's waterfront promenade, making it a convenient starting point for exploring New York City's rich history and cultural heritage.

"Most only use this as a jumping off point for a Statue of Liberty Boat Cruise. Feel free to add this if you'd like. This park has multiple attractions/monuments. Our favorite is the Sea Glass Carousel ($5.50). Ride around on what look like old pieces of Sea Glass shaped like fish in a Merry-Go Round. This would be great for kids, or anybody who wants some funky pictures. Another interesting option, is Castle Clinton, a Fort from the War of 1812. There are 20 or so memorials spread all over Battery Park. My favorite is the Merchant Mariners Memorial. I enjoy “The Battery” for the views of the Statue of Liberty, and a bit of peace and quiet amongst the chaos of Manhattan."
