Njegošev Park

"Spanning both banks of the Morača River, this green space serves as a peaceful oasis amidst the urban landscape, allowing residents and visitors to take advantage of the abundant sunshine that Podgorica experiences throughout the year. Despite the heavy foot traffic that flows through the park via the Gazela Bridge, visitors can find areas of privacy and tranquility. The park features numerous benches surrounded by lush vegetation, creating a serene environment, especially during the sweltering summer months. The adjacent Morača River adds to the park's charm, providing opportunities for leisurely strolls along its stony banks. For the adventurous, there is even the chance to take a dip in the river, although caution is advised due to its cold mountain waters, which rarely exceed 18 degrees Celsius even in the summer. In addition to its natural beauty, the park is home to various amenities, including a well-known basketball court frequented by players from the Budućnost basketball club, one of the most successful teams in Montenegro. The park also harbors some intriguing hidden features, including the remnants of an old cemetery and several statues and monuments. Among them stands a prominent statue of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, the revered Montenegrin poet and leader, after whom the park is named. "
