It is my absolute favourite activity in Iceland since I've moved here: finding new hidden hot springs in the wild to relax in! 🏞️

ICELAND 🏞️: Complete Map of Hot Springs

This guide is a detailed 10 day itinerary with an interactive map showing over 80 locations that we visited on our road trip; months of preparation and planning went into the creation of this. The travel locations include destinations around the Ring Road, locations in the Snæfellsnes peninsula/ Snæfellsjökull National Park, as well as Landmannalauger in the Icelandic highlands. It includes recommended items to pack, cost of camper van and flights, locations and the time needed to travel between each location, how long we spent at each location (when relevant), links to restaurants we visited, and campsites that we stayed at throughout the trip. In the itinerary I've included things that I wish we had done or items that I wish we had brought along with us. 10- day Icelandic summer sleeper van road trip 

Iceland is a beautiful place to visit year-round, with the activities changing depending on the time of year you choose to visit. The warmer months are fun to explore this country because the summer sun creates a never-ending amount of time for adventures, seeing the puffin community, and hitting all the must-sees while not worrying about snow. 

This guide will give you the best places to hit in town and around the island whether you are planning for day trip excursions, road-tripping around Ring Road, or sticking to one section. This is the list of can't-miss things and places while visiting! 

The list below is packed with many options on how to plan for a summer trip to Iceland. First and foremost, you will not be able to see everything on this list if you are going for a week or less, and you will have to make peace with that and get excited to come back. There is so much to do on this island, make sure to give yourself plenty of time for traveling between places and exploring. There are plenty of random pull-offs to explore that might sidetrack from the original plan. Below are tours and activity options to participate in - my suggestion would be to pick 1 or 2 that you are most interested in and make sure to book those.

Hrunalaug Hot Spring

Very rustic hot baths situated right in nature. No bathrooms or changing area so have to change in the car and then walk to the baths in your suits and bring your towels. Entrance fee is 2500ISK per person, cash or card. There are several different baths but there is a limit to how many people can be in the pools at one time since they are smaller pools. Was very warm and relaxing, definitely worth the visit. 

Hrunalaug, an enchanting hidden gem among the hot springs of Iceland, retains its original form and charm. Nestled on private land, the generous landowner has graciously opened it up to the public. Its secluded location rewards visitors with stunning vistas and an indescribable sense of tranquility, offering a serene escape from the outside world.

So, so lovely. There were only two other people when we got here. Hot springs were warm and relaxing! Make sure to pay the requested (small) fee, since it's owned by a farmer and the revenue is used for maintenance.

   Please respect this place. It was my favourite during my stay in Iceland. It is very tiny and needs silence and cleanliness. There is a moneybox outside. Leave some money. :)
