What people say

"The Olympic Plaza is an artificial outdoor rink in downtown Calgary, that was originally the site for the medal ceremonies during the Calgary Olympics. Since it’s regularly flooded, this is a great place to visit if you’re looking to show off your skills. It’s also unique because it’s right in the middle of downtown Calgary. While you skate, you can take in views of the Calgary Tower and the many skyscrapers all around you. I recommend going after dark because you get to see the Calgary Tower all lit up. There is no parking right at the rink but there is paid public city parking available about one block away from the rink. If you put 219 Ninth Ave SE into your maps app, it will take you to the parking lot and you can walk to the rink from there. This is a free activity and does not require a reservation; however, the rink is sometimes closed for other events so make sure to visit their website (linked below) to confirm it’s open on your dates or to find a fun event to add on to your trip.
