"The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, located on Corniche Street in Sharjah, UAE, is a prominent cultural institution that showcases the rich history and contributions of Islamic civilization. Opened in 2008, it is housed in a building originally constructed as a souq, across from Sharjah Creek. The museum's design, with its large size and distinctive golden dome, makes it a noticeable landmark in the Al Majarrah area. It was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, and has since become a key venue for exhibitions related to Islamic culture. The museum's collection features over 5,000 artifacts from across the Islamic world, covering areas such as calligraphy, ceramics, coins, glass, metalwork, scientific instruments, and more. Among its notable displays is the Abu Bakr Gallery of Islamic Faith, which houses significant pieces like a copy of the Quran from the era of Caliph Uthman ibn Affan and a Kiswa, the sacred covering of the Kaaba. The Ibn Al-Haytham Gallery of Science and Technology highlights Islamic achievements in science, including early clocks and navigational tools. Four other galleries display Islamic art through the ages, while the temporary exhibition gallery regularly hosts special displays, such as Ottoman Masterpieces and Persian calligraphy. The museum also offers various visitor facilities, including prayer rooms, a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and parking. It is fully accessible, with provisions for disabled visitors. Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2018, the museum continues to serve as a hub for cultural exchange and Islamic heritage."
