"To hike to the Confluence from the campground is definitely a full-day hike, clocking in at about 16 miles roundtrip. To start the hike to the Confluence, you’ll need to go down the chains to Mooney Falls. From there, there are several trails going every which way. A lot of reports say that all the trails lead to the same place, but the best approach is to follow the river and stay high. If you stay high along the river, you’ll eventually be forced to take a trail uphill and then the trail is a bit more defined. At some point the trail will lead you back down to the creek, and it’ll weave in and out through the water. There’s lots of river crossings!
I’d recommend downloading Offline Maps of the area just so you can easily see where you are incase you do feel lost. Chances are, you won’t be lost as long as you follow the river, but it is nice to have Google Maps available as a backup to see where you are. "
