"Rua Real is one of the oldest in the city of A Coruña and was the main access road to the Old Town. In excavations of the years 1949 and 2004, tombs from the 3rd to the 4th centuries were found.
Initially it started in San Xurxo square, located in front of the old church and cemetery of San Xurxo, which were located where the Teatro Rosalía de Castro was built. Since 1791 it has had the current layout. Until at least 1793 there was a chapel adjacent to the Customs building. The Republican Casino was founded in 1893 at number 94 and in 1916 the first meeting of the Speech Brotherhood took place at number 38.
The street was called Acevedo on several occasions during the 19th century and between 1931 and 1936 rue do Capitán Galán."
