"Cēsis Castle is one of the most iconic and well-preserved medieval castles in Latvia. The foundations of the castle were laid 800 years ago by the Livonian Brothers of the Sword. The most prosperous period Cēsis Castle experienced was during its next owners, the Teutonic Order.
The castle complex includes the ruins of the castle itself, as well as other interesting historical buildings:
- the house of the priest - located next to the castle, it was built in the 13th century
- the new and old gatehouses - built in the 14th and 17th centuries, respectively
- the ruins of the St. John's Church - built in the 13th century, the church was destroyed during the Livonian War"

"Medieval Castle in the heart of the town, surrounded by a very scenic garden with statues and pastel-coloured benches. "
