What people say

"Along some 600 metres in length, Avenida de la Constitución brings together some of the most outstanding buildings in Seville together with a succulent offer of shopping, gastronomy, banks and public buildings. With these arguments in the centre of the city (in its strictest sense), it is not surprising that it is considered the main street of Seville. A delight for walkers, cyclists, tram passengers and consumers of the tables. It is hard to believe that such a distinguished avenue was actually outside the Roman wall, but at that time Seville had not yet tamed its river and some arm ran through the area. However, once the main mosque was built, and not to mention its replacement by the Christian Cathedral, it became one of the most eminent places in the city. Since then, all the golden episodes that have been written in the history of Seville, from the arrival and settlement of European merchants, the monopoly of trade with the New World and even the political ups and downs of the 19th and 20th centuries had Avenida de la Constitución as their setting. Whether it was called Génova, Cánovas del Castillo, Libertad or José Antonio Primo de Rivera (in its first section), Gradas, Lonja, Catedral, Gran Capitán, Reina Mercedes or Queipo de Llano (in the second). There is the Cathedral itself, the Archivo de Indias and some of the most representative buildings of Seville's regionalism. And of course, the Seville City Hall itself. Between the Plaza Nueva and the Puerta de Jerez a good part of Seville's history is concentrated. Since 2006 it has been closed to vehicle traffic and since 2007, after the refurbishment works, it has been pedestrianised. This circumstance reinforces its character as a public forum, a place for recreation, a nerve centre of what happens in Seville when it comes to leisure and tourism."
"The market’s location on Avenida de la Constitución, in the heart of Seville, provides a beautiful setting with views of the Seville Cathedral and the Giralda Tower. "
"This is a touristy/commercial street, but it is worth a stroll! Frequently there are festivals, street performers, and excellent people watching. "
