What people say

"The Basilica of San Miniato al Monte overlooks the city of Florence from the top of the hill on which it is located and is undoubtedly one of the things to absolutely see in the Tuscan capital. It is part of the district of the Cemetery of the Holy Doors and is a splendid example of Romanesque-Florentine architecture. The Basilica is an authentic masterpiece, both inside and out, and houses immense treasures such as the Chapel of the Cardinal of Portugal. Adjacent there is also the Abbey where the monks live, who also manage the monastic Pharmacy, which completes a truly interesting and rich visit."
"This basilica is 1000 years old. It's just a 5-minute walk up the road from Piazzale Michelangelo. You'll need to climb several steps to reach it. But once you get to the top, there is an incredible view looking back at the city. If you want to continue to have unique views of Florence, continue going up the main road. You'll be walking along a road that isn't usually that busy. There is a path that will lead you all the way to Porta Romana. All along this road you can look back over Florence and see the imposing Duomo watching over the city."
"A fortified 12th century church and 14th century monastery, San Miniato sits high above Florence and affords one of the best views of the city. San Miniato is a very popular setting for wedding photo sessions. On the other hand, it has a peaceful cemetery, and you can take a peek at the centuries old crypt behind the altar in the interior. I guess one could say that San Miniato is a hub for all of life’s stages."
