"Japanese curry with a medicinal twist! Do you know about “yakuzen curry”? It’s is a Japanese curry with Sri Lankan curry influences. It aims at being healthier for you body by including 15-30 different types of medicinal spices and without using flour and other ingredients that make the japanese curry a bit too heavy. This restaurant called Tsubame cafe on the east side of Kamakura, is surely one of our favourites so far: the atmosphere is vintage, traditional, so relaxing. It is located in a Kominka, traditional old Japanese house, with tatami mats. The staff is very nice, the food is incredibly good and it is the perfect expression of a Japanese experience. Admire the greenery in the garden while sipping on hot tea and sitting on tatami mats (or using a regular table as you prefer). We recommend the 薬膳カレー / yakuzen curry. It has such hearty, deep flavours full of herbs and medicinal spices. The sides are just as wholesome, so much that we don’t even really know what exactly they are. One seemed to be some prosciutto with some raw tuna and white sesame, another one looked like soy meat and tofu, and the other one had some egg and kimchi in it. (Side may change regularly) Wonderful experience! The dessert’s strong point was really the fruit, that was probably soaked with some syrup. ."
