"From Panagia Vlacherna visitors can enjoy the views of the nearby Mouse Island (Pontikonisi) or choose to take a 3€ return boat that travels every 20min. The area around the monastery is a favorite spot for photographers due to its beautiful setting and the frequent sight of planes landing at the nearby Corfu International Airport, adding a unique element to the scenic backdrop.
This charming islet is famous for its lush greenery and a small Byzantine chapel dedicated to Pantokrator (the Almighty), which dates back to the 11th or 12th century.
According to local legend, Pontikonisi is the transformed ship of Odysseus, turned to stone by the god Poseidon. "

"One possibility how it gets this name is that if it is viewed from afar the island gets the contour of a mouse. According to a Greek legend the boat of Odysseus was turned into this island by Poseidon. You can reach the island by a small boat which leaves from the small port opposite.
Since the island is situated close to the end of the airstrip there is a chance that you will see the airplanes flying a few meters above your head during landing."
