"The Madeira promenade, marina, cruise ship pier, green areas and bathing area, right in the heart of Funchal, make this beautiful land even more attractive. The project was inaugurated in November 2014.
This mega-project, which cost approximately 300 million euros in Funchal, included the widening and redirection of the two river mouths in the city of Funchal and the construction of a new cruise ship dock, right in front of the Sé Cathedral, which increases the maximum capacity of the port of Funchal by 5 ships.
Funchal has been a cruise ship destination for over 100 years and, along with Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, is considered one of the most spectacular destinations of its kind."
