"Storkespringvandet is a fountain on the part of Strøget called Amagertorv in Copenhagen.
The sculpture was modeled by sculptor Vilhelm Bissen after a drawing by professor and painter Edvard Petersen and cast by bronze caster Lauritz Rasmussen. The fountain is donated by the Association for the Beautification of the Capital City, which in 1888 launched a competition on the occasion of the impending silver wedding of Crown Prince Frederik (later Frederik VIII) and Crown Princess Louise. The fountain was inaugurated in 1894.
It has been said for a number of years that the birds are not storks, but herons. However, Knud Flensted from the Danish Ornithological Association has no doubt that the storks are indeed storks"

"This landmark is a historic fountain renowned for its intricate Renaissance architecture. Built in 1620, it features storks as its centerpiece, symbolizing fertility and the city's rich heritage. Tip: go to the top of Illum Rooftop and have a nice view of the area. There are restaurants and cafées on the rooftop."
