"There is only one toll road in Iceland. It's Vaðlaheiðargöng, just east of Akureyri, on the Ring Road. The tunnel connects Eyjafjörður (the long fjord) with Fnjóskadalur (a large valley) in only 4.6 miles. When it opened in 2018, it allowed cars to bypass Víkurskarð, a longer mountain road that frequently closes in the winter.
Note: There are no tollbooths at the tunnel. License plates are recorded at the entrance. Drivers then have 24 hours to pay the toll online."
