Nally Preseault
"Héðinsfjarðargöng are two tunnels that connect Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður along Route 76 on the north coast of North Iceland. The two-lane roads were carved into the mountains, so their ceilings are pure rock. When they opened in 2010, they allowed mountain roads, which were often impassable during much of the winter, to remain open by isolating the most treacherous sections from the harsh weather."
