"😎 Not sure there are many bakeries that can top the views from this place 🗻 Through the floor to ceiling windows take in the mountains and Borgarfjörður. 🌟 Geirabakarí Kaffihús is a great bakeshop serving up Icelandic sweets and good coffee. 🇮🇸 Highly recommend trying: ❤️ Vínarbrauð 👉 This Scandinavian classic is made of long flat logs of flaky puff pastry with a layer of vanilla custard down the middle. It’s topped with shaved almonds and a sweet pink or chocolate frosting! 🇮🇸 Vinsæfel Vara 🍋 This lemon cake is their best seller. The citrusy cake slice is filled jam and cream, enrobed in marzipan and topped with a chocolate Icelandic flag. ❤️ While the cake was delicious and photogenic, my favourite was the Vínarbrauð, one of the best I've had (and I've been eating it at bakeshops all around Iceland). 🥪 Their sandwiches are amazing! Grab one to go to help fuel your adventure. 🚾 There's also a restroom here. Since you'll be pretty remote during most of the tour, this is a good place to stop and use the facilities. ⏰ HOURS: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; Saturday, 8 am to 4:30 pm; Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm."

"Geirabakarí Kaffihús is a perfect pit stop in Borgarnes. At this point, you're an hour outside of Reykjavík, so a coffee or bathroom break is probably in order. This family-owned bakery, just over Borgarfjarðarbrú (Iceland's second-longest bridge), has breakfast pastries, lunch sandwiches, sweet treats, and plenty of caffeine. Large windows and plenty of seating overlook the water. A few outdoor tables, for rare warms days, do, too."

Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best.
