What people say

"The Church of Santa Ana in Granada was built in 1501 on the site of the Almanzra mosque. The church of Santa Ana, without a doubt one of the most beautiful in the city. Built on the side of the Darro River on a huge ashlar structure, it was the result of the use of the Almazora mosque and its subsequent extension in the first half of the 16th century. Its design is by Diego de Siloé but it was executed by Francisco Hernández de Móstoles. On the outside, some of the most outstanding elements that architecture has left in Granada stand out, such as the magnificent Plateresque doorway, the work of Sebastián de Alcántara and his son Juan, and the slender Mudejar tower of the temple, the most beautiful of those that this art left in all of Spain. The work of Juan Castellar, its entire body appears marked by small arches. The latter has a striking mullioned window, the spandrels of which are decorated with tiles in the traditional white, blue and green tones, the same as those of the borders on the roofs and the spire of the bell tower. On the roof of the main chapel there is a minaret from the old Almanzora mosque. There is another one from the same temple in the Alhambra museum, undoubtedly a miracle that it has survived intact to this day. Above it a beautiful wrought iron cross presides over the exterior of the temple, as a symbol of its consecration to Christianity."
