Nally Preseault
"A thriving village and sixty fishing boats used to occupy Djúpalónssandur. Sand of the Deep Lagoon on the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula is uninhabited now. At least of buildings and residents. Most days, there are lots of tourists exploring the coastline. A black-lava-pearl beach. Lagoons. Lava formations. Lifting stones. Rock walls. Short hiking trails. The wreck of the Grimsby fishing trawler. So much for being empty.
Notes:
1) There is a designated parking lot for all of these sites. Just follow the signs and the lava road off the main road.
2) Keep an eye out for elves. Söngklettur (Singing Rock), a red-rock formation, is considered to be their church."

"❗️EVA'S TIP: I include this beach as an extra stop because it can be beautiful to visit if you have some extra time, but not necessarily needs to be one of the most amazing places around the Snæfellsness Peninsula. The best of this beach I would say is the view of Snæfellsjökull (the glacier), and the leftovers of a shipwreck along the shore. "
