Robert Hurt
"Mt. Fremont Fire Lookout is a fire lookout tower within Mount Rainier National Park. The entire hike (legitimately every minute of it) to the lookout offers extraordinary views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding meadows and rocky areas. Once you arrive at the lookout, you can walk up the steps and around the outside of the lookout tower. Access inside of the lookout is not available. The hike itself is relatively short and easy most of the way. I recommend aiming to spend sunset at the lookout if possible, but make sure that you have a headlamp or flashlight for the hike back in the dark. Length: 5.7 miles Elevation gain: 1,183 ft. Trail type: Out & back Location: Mt. Rainier National Park. The trail leaves from the Mount Fremont Lookout Trailhead at the Sunrise Visitor Center. Best time to visit: Mid July through the end of September. Parking instructions: Park in the parking lot at the Sunrise Visitors Center. There are many parking spaces available as the parking lot is very large. I had no trouble finding parking. The parking lot has toilets. Camping: Camping is not allowed on this trail. Gear suggestions: Please see the day hiking gear suggestion section of this guide. Drinkable water access: This hike is short enough to carry your water. I do not believe there is anywhere to fill up on the trail. Photography suggestions: The entire hike is loaded with photo opportunities. THe meadows at hte beginning, the endless exposed Mount Rainier, and the incredible views in all directions once you get to the lookout are ideal options."
