Bolungarvik

"A quaint fishing town at the base of Bolafjall and other mountains, there is a rebuilt viking village right outside of town, as well as, a lighthouse. You can also hike in the valley and peer up at the abandoned ski lift hanging right above town. The man who took care of the equipment passed onto the next world, and no one took over, so its becoming reclaimed by nature. There is also an amazing pool here with great views and hot pots, just remember to take off your shoes at the door and get completely nude in the showers so you don't get yelled at by an Icelander. This is a jump off point to visit Bolafjall and Skálavík, but when you're done with your exploring, don't miss the best burgers in Iceland at what seems like just a gas station (Orkan) and looks closed when you're driving back out of town towards the tunnel. Oh yeah, and the tunnel has a speed camera so definitely don't speed because that ticket will hurt. If you're feeling extremely adventurous, you can rent a mountain bike from Fjord Hub in Ísafjörður and bike to Bolungarvík and along the old road to the right of the tunnel which hugs the cliffs of the fjord. If you plan on visiting town, Bolafjall, and Skálavik, you must leave early in the morning to have enough time. Your Strava will be extremely proud of you for the elevation gain though."
