What people say

Nally Preseault
"Does Stokkseyri, a tiny town on the south coast, serve the best soup in Iceland? The crowds that flock to Fjöruborðið certainly think so. This little seafood restaurant, which overlooks a black-sand beach and crashing waves, is always booked solid. The space isn't fancy. It has uneven tables and a chalkboard wall. But all of the food on the small menu is delicious. The meal starts with homemade bread and dips. But you should save the bread, as you'll want it to sop up sauce later. Then you only have a few choices: langoustine soup, langoustine tails, a three course menu (the soup, the tails, and dessert), or, for people who don't eat seafood, a roasted fillet of lamb or a vegetarian patty. Don't hesitate, just order the three-course meal. It's worth it. And so was the drive. Daily 12-8 Note: Reservations are essential. You can make one through the link on their webpage."
"A coastal delight in Iceland. Savor langoustine feasts by the shore. Immerse in breathtaking views while relishing fresh, local flavors. Unforgettable dining. "

Mentioned in these guides

Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best.
