What people say

"The Duomo di San Giorgio, also known as the Cathedral of St. George, or Cerkev svetega Jurija in Slovenian, is a prominent church located in Piran, Slovenia. Dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint of the town, the cathedral is one of the most significant religious buildings in Piran. Built in the Venetian Gothic style, the Cathedral of St. George dates back to the 12th century, although it underwent several renovations and additions over the centuries. The church features an impressive façade adorned with intricate stone carvings, rose windows, and a prominent bell tower. Inside the cathedral, visitors can admire a variety of religious artwork, including altarpieces, frescoes, and statues, reflecting different periods of artistic and architectural influence. The highlight of the interior is the main altar, dedicated to Saint George, which is adorned with elaborate decorations and religious icons. The Cathedral of St. George holds religious services regularly and is also a popular destination for tourists interested in exploring Piran's cultural and religious heritage. Its location in the heart of Piran's old town, near Tartini Square, makes it easily accessible and a focal point of the town's historic center."
"Dominating the skyline of Piran, Sv. Jurij’s Church is an iconic symbol of the town. This Baroque masterpiece, built in the 17th century, features a striking bell tower modeled after St. Mark’s Campanile in Venice. Inside, the church is adorned with beautiful frescoes and statues, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich spiritual and artistic heritage. "

"This church is on a hill above Piran. It offer very beautiful view and if the weather is clear, you can even see Italy or Croatia! Inside the church there is a museum. You can take a peep inside and admire the rich decoration. Right next to the church there is a bell tower, which is a smaller copy of the Venetian bell tower in the church of San Marco."
