"Little Petra is based in the "Cold Canyon" as its referred to in Arabic. The site dates back to roughly the same time as Petra. While being smaller, the site is much less viewed than Petra. And there is a treasure trove of cool things to see here.
Likely a suburb and home to wealthy Nabatean merchants, the town is filled with wonderfully decorated homes and frescoes that are remarkably preserved. The main attraction is the "Painted Room" - a Roman-style dining room with magnificent frescoes depicting vegetation from the area along with gods from the Roman era. The paintings are the best kept paintings from the Nabatean Kingdom, and one of the best in all the Middle East. Unlike Petra, it is free to visit the site, another upside."
