"The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Bangkok, Thailand, opened in 2012 and is one of the largest contemporary art museums in Asia. It was privately established by Boonchai Bencharongkul and is dedicated to preserving and promoting Thai art and culture. The museum showcases an impressive collection of works by renowned Thai artists such as Thawan Duchanee, Hem Vejakorn, Chalermchai Kositpipat, and Prateep Kochabua, among others. MOCA spans five floors, each dedicated to different themes and art forms: 1st Floor: Focuses on temporary exhibits, as well as works by National Artists like Chalood Nimsamer and Paitun Muangsomboon, highlighting current Thai art with sculptures and paintings rooted in Thai culture. 2nd Floor: Displays the works of Kamol Tassananchalee, a national artist, featuring mixed-media pieces that comment on modern social life and cultural events. 3rd Floor: Features works that explore contemporary Thai art, including pieces by Sompop Budtarad, Somphong Adulyasarapan, and Prateep Kochabua, with a special room dedicated to the Thai classical literature of Khun Chang Khun Paen. 4th Floor: Dedicated to the works of Thawan Duchanee, a renowned Thai artist and philosopher, and features oil paintings, carvings, and sculptures. This floor also showcases the three massive paintings depicting The Three Kingdoms. 5th Floor: Displays international modern art, including works from the USA, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, and more, with notable Romantic artists such as John William Godward and Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema. MOCA not only serves as a space for art exhibitions but also as a hub for cultural exchange, with its wide range of works from both Thai and international artists, helping to educate and inspire future generations."
