"The Nang Loeng Market, over 120 years old, is the first land market in Thailand, located on Nakhon Sawan Road in the Wat Sommanat Subdistrict. Established during the reign of King Rama V, the market has a rich history and is known for its iconic dishes, including famous royal court desserts and traditional savory meals. Among its renowned food offerings are Nanta Thai desserts, passed down from Wang Lang and Pa Hong Thai dessert shops, as well as savory favorites like Roong Rueang Noodles. This Chinese Hokkien noodle shop is famous for its crab noodles, pork ribs noodles, and red pork rice, which was served to HM Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Thailand. Another popular spot is Boonlert, known for its grilled pork wontons, which were offered to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The market also offers unique dishes like Nuea Tun Nang Loeng, Io Yentafo, Khao Kaeng Ratna (an ancient curry restaurant), and fish sausages, which are rare to find today. In addition to its culinary offerings, Nang Loeng Market is home to several cultural and historical landmarks. The Sala Chaloem Thani, also known as Nang Loeng Cinema, has been around for over 90 years, and the Prince of Chumphon Shrine, a sacred site where locals and visitors pay homage, is located within the market. Nearby attractions include Wat Sunthon Thammathan (Wat Daeng Nang Loeng), the resting place of Mitr Chaibancha’s ashes, and the Nang Loeng Arts photo shop, which was the first of its kind in Siam, where people could take photos and create stone locket necklaces. The market is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM."
