What people say

"Standing proudly on Preseren Square, Ljubljana's beating heart, is the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation. This 17th-century architectural gem is more than just a pretty face; it's a captivating blend of history, art, and spiritual significance. One of the church's most striking features is its salmon-pink facade. This unique hue sets it apart from the surrounding buildings and makes it an instant landmark. While the exterior is captivating, the true beauty unfolds within. The Baroque style takes center stage with intricate details adorning the walls and ceiling. Be sure to look up and marvel at the frescoes, while the enormous choir stall adds to the awe-inspiring atmosphere. The church wasn't built in a vacuum. Its story goes back centuries, possibly standing on the foundation of two or even three earlier churches. A guided tour (offered in English) can unlock the fascinating history hidden within these walls."

"There's a big pink building at the top of Prešeren Square. It's the Church of the Annunciation. Though other churches previously sat on this site, the Franciscan church and monastery was built in the mid-17th century. The Baroque facade and bell towers were completed in the early-18th century. A copper statue of St. Mary now stands atop it. The interior has frescoes from the mid-19th century. More were added to the ceiling in the 1930s. The church is one of the most-famous buildings in Slovenia. There's also a library and a museum attached to the church. Visitors are welcome, just be aware that the church closes at lunchtime each day."
