"People also refer to this giant UNESCO World Heritage Site as the 'Monkey Temple'. You'll find out why 🐒 I would highly recommend doing a walking tour of the Buddha Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple in one day. It's fascinating to see the similarities between Buddhism and Hinduism in these special monuments and temples. Guru Walk is a free walking tour app that links you up with locals who are passionate about their culture and cities. I've used them many times before and they never fail to disappoint. And if you're solo travelling, it's a way to meet people. ** At Pashupatinath Temple, you might see a Hindu cremation ('mukhgni'). This can be quite shocking but equally fascinating for those who have never witnessed such a profound and unique ceremony as this one. "

"Pashupatinath Temple is the oldest temple in Kathmandu and it is one of the most important & secret holy pilgrimages sites for Hindu devotees all around the world. For the first time in my life, I witnessed a Hindu cremation ceremony. It was beautiful to witness how other cultures see death. The cremations happen in the afternoon after 5:00pm "

"This temple is a lot to take in emotionally (at least for it was) as people go to this temple to prepare to die and be cremated. I won't spoiled all the details, but only to be emotionally prepare to visit; and be respectful. Also, take care of the monkeys, do not go with anything they could grab. "
