"I chose to go to from Cancun as it was my first day in Mexico and I wanted to get out of Cancun. It is easy to visit Isla Mujeres from Cancun as the island is the closest island to Cancun. You can go there by ferry or with a tour operator (I have linked the timetables and different operators on this guide). The island is a beautiful island but is a big tourist attraction so it gets very busy and I wouldn’t say it’s traditionally Mexican at all, it’s definitely a tourist trap with a lot of souvenire stores etc. the tour boat I went on was a beautiful catamaran serving drinks and they stopped at a few places on the island. The tour guide also offered additional buggy tours on the island which I did and really enjoyed, however if that is not your thing you can spend the day on a beach bar they drop you off at. There is also a great store on the island that offers tequila tasting too and you learn a little bit about the process of making it and where the different tastes come from. I really would recommend doing this! Coming back to Cancun you’ll see a beautiful sunset and have great sundowners onboard. I went on my own and felt very safe and even can back having made friends, so it’s a great activity to visit a new place. "

"A short ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres offers stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a charming town. Visit Playa Norte for some of the best beaches in the Caribbean or explore the Garrafon Natural Reef Park for snorkeling and zip-lining. "
