Lauren Weatherly
"This trail snakes through beautiful pine & aspen forests, and encircles dramatic rock formations. The trail is wide and well maintained, and the views are gorgeous. IMPORTANT: AllTrails lists this as a longer hike. BUT, when you're entering the park, follow the directions to the Lazy V Trailhead. Park and start here. This is a newer parking lot, which makes many of the trails much more accessible, but AllTrails has not been updated. Difficulty Rating: Moderate Popularity Rating: Moderate Shadiness Factor: Mixed -Trailhead: Lazy V Trailhead - Staunton State Park -Stats: 5.1 mi RT, 1000' elevation gain -Getting there: Easy! -Parking: Designated parking at trailhead, but you'll have to pay a fee to enter and use the park. -Restrooms at the trailhead: Pit Latrines -Puppers: On-leash -Best time to visit: Spring, Summer, Fall -Good to know: Be sure to follow the instructions above, instead of navigating to the trailhead directly from AllTrails. Once at the trailhead, the route on AllTrails is accurate. Parking at Lazy V Trailhead just allows you to cut off about 3 miles of length and a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. 📍Staunton State Park, Co, is located on the ancestral homelands of the Tséstho’e (Cheyenne), Hinono’eino’ Biito’owu’ (Arapaho), & Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) peoples "
