What people say

"At the bottom of Syntagma Square is the beginning of Ermou Street, a paradise for those who love to shop. It is the primary path on foot between Syntagma and Monastiraki squares. Three-quarters of the way down Ermou, right in the middle of the street, sits the small church of Kapnikarea. As you continue down Ermou Street you have Monastiraki Flea Market on your left with its collection of clothing shops, antiques, used books, tourist shops, cd and vintage record stores, restaurants, cafes, and ouzeries. The other side of Ermou is the neighborhood of Psiri with more eclectic shops as well as some terrific restaurants, ouzeries, cafes, and bars. You can continue your stroll at Thissio which has a unique layout with many neoclassical buildings dominating the area and today it is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Athens. Address: Ermou Street Opening hours: 09:00-21:00 for shopping only Getting there: Line 2(red): Metro Station Syntagma Website: NO Tip: Don’t be hesitant, all these places are walkable and super close. Welcome to my hometown Athens, a city that seamlessly blends ancient history with modern vibrancy. This three-day adventure is designed to help you make the most of your time in this captivating Greek capital. From exploring the iconic Acropolis and its awe-inspiring monuments to savoring traditional cuisine in charming neighborhoods, and immersing yourself in Athens' lively nightlife, you'll discover the diverse facets that make this city truly special. This guide is divided into the following categories: 1. what to do for each day (archeological sites, neighborhoods you need to visit, activities to do) 2. where to eat & drink (includes 6 restaurants, 6 all-day cafes/bars), 3. where to party (nightlife in Athens). It is suitable for both winter and summer visitors. A curated list of recommendations like this unlike an itinerary offers flexibility and allows travelers to choose based on their available time. However, the way I listed the activities by day allows for a manageable time-based plan.
